About

Prof. Fernandes holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Laval University (Canada) and a master's degree in Computer Science from the Federal University of Uberlandia (Brazil). He is currently an assistant professor at the Federal University of Uberlandia (Brazil) acting in the Graduate Program in Computer Science as a master's supervisor and in Graduate Program in Mechanical Engineering as co-supervisor. His major research interests are: non-destructive testing and evaluation, infrared thermography, digital image processing, machine learning, composite materials, structural health monitoring, and medical images.

He recently won a prestigious fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (Germany). The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (German: Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung) is a foundation established by the government of the Federal Republic of Germany and funded by the Federal Foreign Office, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development as well as other national and international partners; it promotes international academic cooperation between excellent scientists and scholars from Germany and from abroad.



Professor Fernandes is currently member of the Editorial Board of The Quantitative InfraRed Thermography Jounrnal (ISSN 1768-6733) QIRTj
